Frequently asked questions

Short and simple. What you need to know before sending your first vote.

What is Decidate for?

Decidate is a simple app for agreeing on a date in a group. Instead of a long chat, you send one link, everyone marks when they can make it, and you quickly see the best date.

Do I need an account and password?

You do not need a password. Sign-in works through a one-time email code (OTP).

How quickly can I create a new vote?

Fill in the title, optionally add a description, add at least two dates, and click "Create vote". Then you get a public link to share with others.

What if I make a mistake when creating a date?

In an open vote, the author can edit a date if nobody has voted for it yet. Once a date has votes, it is locked so results stay reliable.

Can participants suggest their own date?

Yes. A participant can suggest a new date and the author can then approve or reject it.

Who can see who voted for a specific date?

The author decides when creating the vote. Voter names can be visible to all participants or only to the author. Vote counts are always visible.

How do I know a new date suggestion arrived?

The author sees a dashboard notice and receives an email about the suggestion waiting for approval. Decidate sends email notifications for important changes, such as a new date, a suggestion to approve, or a rejected suggestion.

Can I add the final date to my calendar?

Yes. After voting is closed, the author confirms the final date and participants can download it as an .ics calendar file.

How do I know where I need to do something?

The dashboard uses simple labels such as Needs my vote, New suggestions, or Final date, so you can quickly see where action is needed.

What if I do not want to fill in a nickname?

A nickname is recommended, but not required. You can add or change it later in Settings.
